7 reasons why you should always have tomato sauce at home
Sometimes it’s the simple things that make everyday life easier. A high-quality tomato sauce in a jar is such a kitchen favorite. It gives you flexibility, saves time and is the basis for countless dishes – without compromising on quality or taste.
It’s reassuring to know, especially on days when you’re in a hurry: A sauce made from the best organic ingredients is waiting in the store cupboard to make a wholesome dish in no time at all.
Here are 7 ways you can use tomato sauce in a variety of ways – quickly, easily and with pleasure.
1. the classic: pasta in just a few minutes
A jar of tomato sauce, your favorite pasta and maybe some fresh herbs or grated hard cheese – that’s all you need for an all-round harmonious dish.
While the pasta is cooking, gently heat the sauce in a pan. In less than 15 minutes, you have a meal on the table that is both warming and filling. You can add roasted pine nuts or roasted vegetables to refine your dish.
2. as a base for a quick vegetable soup
When it gets chilly outside or you want something warming, tomato soup is ideal. Simply take tomato sauce with a little vegetable stock, fresh or frozen vegetables and a dash of high-quality olive oil and you’ll have an aromatic soup in no time at all.
Tip: Supplemented with red lentils or white beans, it is particularly filling and provides valuable vegetable proteins.
3. perfect for oven dishes
Whether lasagne, vegetable casserole or stuffed peppers – tomato sauce is the aromatic basis for many oven dishes. You don’t have to spend a lot of time cooking and can concentrate on the fresh ingredients.
Simply cut the vegetables, add the sauce, top with cheese or a plant-based alternative and pop it in the oven. While everything is cooking, you have time for yourself.
4. quick shakshuka
A jar of tomato sauce with a little paprika, onions and spices becomes a spicy base for shakshuka. Form hollows, pour in the eggs and leave to set – and you have an uncomplicated dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Served with fresh bread, the result is a real moment of indulgence – without any great effort.
5. as a pizza or tarte flambée base
Planning a spontaneous pizza evening? With a ready-made tomato sauce, the most important step is already done. Roll out the dough, spread the sauce, top with whatever you fancy – and the aroma of freshly baked pizza wafts through your kitchen.
The tomato sauce also cuts a fine figure on flatbread or as a base for savory tarts.
6. for hearty bowls and stir-fries
Tomato sauce is a wonderful way to round off the flavor of rice, quinoa or millet dishes. Simply mix with roasted vegetables or add to your bowl as a fruity component.
You can also combine the tomato sauce with chicken, chickpeas, tofu or fried halloumi to create a balanced meal.
7. when things have to go really fast
Sometimes there is hardly any time to cook. This is exactly when the value of a well-stocked larder becomes apparent. Tomato sauce can:
- serve as a dip for baked vegetables
- Making sandwiches and wraps juicier
- can be used as a base for a quick tomato and cream sauce
- Refine gnocchi or Schupfnudeln in just a few minutes
This turns a few ingredients into a hot meal – often in under 20 minutes.
Conscious supply, relaxed everyday life
A high-quality tomato sauce in a jar is more than just an ingredient. It is a piece of planning security. If you pay attention to organic quality, carefully selected ingredients and gentle processing, you will always have a flavorful base at hand that will add depth to your dishes.
Everyday life shows that fast and conscious are not mutually exclusive. With a small supply in your cupboard, you create space for yourself – for spontaneous moments of indulgence, for creative ideas and for days when things can simply be uncomplicated.
This turns a jar of tomato sauce into a versatile companion that enriches your cooking – day after day.

How do you recognize a good tomato sauce?
The secret behind every good tomato sauce
A really good tomato sauce doesn’t need many ingredients. Ripe tomatoes, a little salt, perhaps a hint of herbs – and: high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
In Italy, this is a matter of course. Hardly anyone there would prepare a tomato sauce without olive oil. It is not just an ingredient, but a culinary foundation. But why is that?

Why olive oil is a matter of course in Italy
From the simple “Salsa di Pomodoro” to the aromatic “Arrabbiata”: olive oil forms the basis of almost every sauce in Italian cuisine. It is either gently heated with the tomatoes or added raw at the end.
The reason is simple:
Olive oil connects.
This is because it carries aromas, rounds off acidity and ensures a harmonious balance between fruitiness and depth. Especially with tomatoes, which naturally have a lively acidity, high-quality extra virgin olive oil creates a velvety texture.
The special combination of tomato and olive oil
Tomatoes contain lycopene, a natural plant substance that gives them their bright red color. This substance is special because it is fat-soluble.
This means quite simply:
Without fat, your body can only absorb lycopene with difficulty.
Only when you add a little oil does the lycopene become properly available for your body. The oil acts like a “means of transportation”. It helps to release the valuable ingredients from the tomato and make them usable.
Traditional kitchen wisdom meets modern nutritional science:
What has been done right intuitively over generations also has its biochemical logic.
A dash of high-quality olive oil not only makes the tomato sauce more aromatic – it also ensures that the tomato is better absorbed by the body.
Less is more - if the quality is right!
A really good tomato sauce doesn’t need a long list of ingredients. It lives from what really counts: the quality of its ingredients – and the care with which they are processed.
🍅 Sun-ripened tomatoes bring their natural sweetness and full flavor.
🫒 A good olive oil gives the sauce balance, depth and a fine, round taste.
🫱🏼🫲🏼 And careful processing ensures that precisely these flavors are preserved.
The result is a sauce that simply tastes good.
Do you already know our Perfetto tomato sauces?
The Byodo Perfetto tomato sauces follow this principle: they are made from selected organic ingredients and are refined with extra virgin olive oil. It gives the sauce a particularly round, Mediterranean depth. Sun-ripened tomatoes provide a fruity aroma, while deliberately short ingredient lists and the absence of added sugar put the focus on the natural taste.
The result is a tomato sauce that tastes just like home-cooked.
Perfect for anyone who loves good food, even if it sometimes has to be quick in everyday life.

Giving joy together
Byodo donates to the WeltKinderLachen Foundation
Commitment to children in the region
Once again this year, we decided not to give Christmas presents to our business partners and instead donated to the WeltKinderLachen foundation.
Since 2006, the foundation has been supporting children and young people in the districts of Altötting and Mühldorf who need help in difficult life situations. With this donation, we would like to strengthen the valuable work of the initiative and give local children new prospects.
“Joy and appreciation are values that drive us. That’s why we want to give something back to the region with our Christmas campaign,” explains Christina Brenninger, Byodo’s press officer.
Tradition and cookies for a child's smile
In addition to the company donation, the employees also got involved.
The team once again collected gifts such as games, cuddly toys and clothes for children in the region at the traditional Byodo cookie eating event. This year, more parcels were collected than ever before – a strong sign of solidarity and compassion.
For over 40 years, we have stood for conscious enjoyment, responsibility and togetherness.
If you would like to help yourself, you can support the WeltKinderLachen Foundation with a donation – for a smile that lasts.
