For a darker night

Byodo switches off advertising lighting from 9 pm

Mühldorf – 01.03.2023: Byodo Naturkost recently became a supporter of “Paten der Nacht”, a Germany-wide organization against light pollution. The Mühldorf-based organic company has adjusted the burning time of its advertising lighting and now switches off all lights at 9 pm.

“What microplastics are in our oceans, lakes and soil, artificial light is in our atmosphere,” says the organization “Godfathers of the Night”, explaining the problem of light pollution. A night illuminated by artificial light disturbs the biorhythm of humans, animals and plants. That is why the godparents of the night are actively campaigning for a reduction in artificial lighting in both the commercial and private sectors.

The associated project “10 p.m. – lights out” is specifically about advertising lighting. The organization is trying to persuade companies to switch off outdoor advertising lighting by 10 p.m. at the latest. The organic company Byodo Naturkost is participating in this project and adjusted the lighting times at the end of February.

“We are going one step further by giving the night an extra hour of darkness. In future, Byodo Naturkost and our organic store Feinsinn will be saying “9 pm – lights out”,” says Byodo Managing Director Stephanie Moßbacher. “By taking part in this project, we also want to encourage other companies to rethink their approach.”

In addition to a financial contribution, Byodo Naturkost GmbH therefore also supports the sponsors of the night with its reach, e.g. in social media. Because the more private individuals and companies take part, the darker the night becomes and the more the environment benefits.
