Organic pioneer expands regional organic catering for daycare centers and schools
Successful launch of the new production kitchen
Mühldorf – 13.09.2024: Byodo Naturkost GmbH’s heartfelt project in Mühldorf am Inn has got off to a successful start.
Just in time for the start of the new school year, the conversion has been completed and the range of healthy and delicious lunches for kindergartens and schools in the districts of Mühldorf and Altötting has been expanded to 2,500 meals per day.
Michael Hetzl, mayor of the district town of Mühldorf a. Inn, also visited the new production kitchen for the opening and was impressed by the delicious DGE-certified food. The premiere has been a success, the first children’s menus have left the new production kitchen of the organic company Byodo Naturkost GmbH. In 143 days, the regional and proven partners, some of whom were already involved in the expansion of the warehouse and the extension of the associated Feinsinn organic store, completed the conversion without a hitch. In the process, a spacious and well-equipped open kitchen with areas for cold food, hot food, order picking and delivery was created in the existing Byodo Naturkost GmbH premises. The kitchen is characterized by a comprehensive hygiene concept. A modern, 8 m long dishwasher and a waste cooling system ensure unrestricted hygiene and cleanliness when disposing of leftovers. The three cold stores and a separate deep-freeze cell provide sufficient cooling space. Mayor Michael Hetzl was also able to see this for himself on site: “Byodo Naturkost’s investment in the new production kitchen is not only a benefit for the company, but also for Mühldorf. It’s great to see local companies like Byodo taking responsibility and offering innovative solutions for providing our children with healthy meals.” The kitchen has been in operation since the beginning of September. The large and excellently trained kitchen team prepares all the child-friendly and delicious meals fresh every day. The “DGE Quality Standard for Catering in Daycare Centers” ensures wholesome and healthy meals through, among other things, particularly low-fat and nutrient-sparing preparation, sparing use of sugar and salt and seasonal ingredients. The 900 children’s meals are then delivered by electric car to 23 facilities, 12 of which are in Mühldorf, including the Mößling primary school day nursery, which opened at the beginning of this week. “Thanks to our 40 years of experience in the organic food sector, we are proud to incorporate our accumulated knowledge and experience from product development, quality assurance and gastronomy into the production of nursery and school meals,” says Stephanie Moßbacher, Managing Director of Byodo Naturkost. “This means that we can always achieve very high and reliable quality in both our children’s catering and our products, which also taste delicious.” With around 600 meals, the previous kitchen was working at full capacity. Byodo Naturkost has been supplying nurseries and kindergartens in the districts of Mühldorf and Altötting with lunches made from 100% organic ingredients since 2017. But even much earlier, the company was involved in the organic lunch box campaign, where all children starting school can look forward to a healthy break.
