Byodo expands crispy corner range with protein-rich red lentil variant

Plant-based protein meets extra crunch

 

Mühldorf – October 2025: Byodo Naturkost GmbH is expanding its popular Crunchy Corners range with a new, particularly protein-rich variant: the new Protein Crunchy Corners Red Lentil will be available from November 1, 2025. Protein power meets a concentrated load of crunch.

With this new product, Byodo is responding to the increasing demand for plant-based proteins and healthy snack alternatives. The Protein Crispy Corners Red Lentil combine two important trends: plant-based nutrition and conscious snack enjoyment. “Our new Red Lentil Crispy Corners offer an excellent source of plant-based protein – ideal for anyone who wants to eat consciously,” explains Miriam Kaufmann, Head of Product Management and Marketing. “Not only do they taste deliciously spicy and nutty, they also contain 50 percent less fat than conventional potato chips.”

The innovative snacks are puffed from lentil flour and refined with a small pinch of salt – without any artificial spices or flavorings. The gentle production process produces particularly crispy snacks with a unique texture.

 

Unlike conventional potato chips, the Protein Crispy Corners Red Lentil do not contain any deep-fried ingredients. The special production method, in which lentil flour is puffed up and sprayed with a little oil, also improves the digestion of the valuable proteins, while the minimal addition of oil ensures optimum flavor development.

 

Market analyses show that the crispy rice cakes segment is growing continuously and Byodo continues to gain market share as the third most important supplier. Byodo has had rice cakes in its range very successfully since 1989 and has always driven the segment forward with innovations such as packaging with a clip for longer freshness, rice cakes without salt or particularly fluffy puffed cakes. By introducing the protein variant, Byodo aims to strengthen the variety of its range in this attractive segment.

 

The Protein Crispy Corners Red Lentil replace the previous variety Crispy Corners Rice Pea and will be available from November 1, 2025.
