Natural food retailer Byodo acquires stake in IT company
Win-win for both sides
Mühldorf – 15.02.2023: Byodo Naturkost GmbH is the new shareholder of Agotech IT-Systemhaus GmbH. With this step, the Mühldorf-based natural food supplier is driving forward its new digitalization strategy. Cyber crime and green IT are important future topics for the sustainable organic pioneer. The owner-managed company Agotech has relocated its offices to the Byodo headquarters in the Mühldorf Nord industrial estate.
For over 20 years, Reinhard Steckermeier and his company Agotech have been looking after all IT issues – from server architecture to software selection – at Byodo Naturkost. Agotech has now been transformed into a limited company with two shareholders – Reinhard Steckermeier and Byodo Naturkost GmbH. The many years of close and successful cooperation have prompted both sides to take this step. “Through our participation,” says Byodo Managing Director Stephanie Moßbacher, “on the one hand, we are securing the comprehensive expertise that we have built up through many years of collaboration and joint projects. On the other hand, we are in a position to continue shaping the topic of green IT as a pioneer and stay ahead of the game.
Agotech Managing Director Reinhard Steckermeier sees the connection as a classic win-win situation. “We have the backing and infrastructure of a major partner who supports us in many ways, giving us the freedom to continue our positive development in important IT areas such as cyber security and green IT”.
The IT specialists, who were previously employed by Byodo, moved to the new company when the investment came into effect, thereby expanding their radius of action to include new customers and subject areas. However, they will continue to look after the administration, maintenance and infrastructure as well as the IT security of Byodo Naturkost GmbH. For the Byodo workforce, therefore, nothing has changed in their daily work. Agotech currently employs five people and is also training IT specialists for system integration.
In addition to IT security – cyber-attacks are mainly carried out on small and medium-sized companies, as they often do not take sufficient precautions for their IT security for cost reasons – the topic of green IT is also high on the agenda. As a sustainable company, Byodo Naturkost GmbH wants to continue to rise to the challenge of making its processes and tools as sustainable and digital as possible.
“Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role, especially in digitalization, and without IT security, our company is in danger. Instead of looking the other way, we are tackling these issues head on,” the two owner-managed companies agree.
