2,500 organic meals a day
Byodo quadruples its daycare catering capacities
Mühldorf – 04.06.2024: Byodo Naturkost GmbH in Mühldorf am Inn is investing in a project close to its heart and expanding its daycare catering capacity from the current 600 to up to 2,500 meals a day. To this end, the organic company is remodeling the building and installing a completely new production kitchen. From September, the first 100% organic meals will be produced and delivered in the new kitchen.
Since 2017, Byodo Naturkost has been supplying nurseries and kindergartens in the districts of Mühldorf and Altötting with lunches made from 100% organic ingredients. But even much earlier, the company was involved in the organic lunch box campaign, where all children starting school can look forward to a healthy break. “As an organic pioneer, it is a matter close to our hearts to provide even the youngest children with 100% organic meals,” says Stephanie Moßbacher, Managing Director of Byodo Naturkost. “It is an investment in the health of the youngest children in the region – soon even more children will be able to enjoy a DGE-certified meal every day.”
With around 600 meals a day, the existing kitchen is currently working at full capacity. The new kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment will have a capacity of up to 2,500 meals a day from September 2024. “The positive response from the facilities and the steadily increasing demand have prompted us to expand the range even further,” says Marcus Hofer, Operations Manager at Feinsinn Bioladen und Genussküche. “There is still capacity available from September, so anyone interested is welcome to contact us.”
The meals are freshly prepared every day, then cooled and delivered to 17 facilities by electric car. The food is gently heated there at lunchtime. The so-called Cook & Chill process ensures optimum preservation of nutrients. The “DGE Quality Standard for Catering in Daycare Centers” ensures wholesome and health-promoting meals through, among other things, particularly low-fat and nutrient-sparing preparation, sparing use of sugar and salt and seasonal ingredients.
For the conversion, the organic company is relying on regional and proven partners, some of whom were already involved in the expansion of the warehouse and the construction of the associated Feinsinn organic store.
