“For us, sustainable business is not a marketing buzzword, but rather a way of life,” said Josef Stellner, our commercial director. The Großer Preis des Mittelstandes was also awarded under the motto “Sustainable Business” in 2019. We were delighted that Byodo made it to the jury stage for the third time in a row. Annet Kersten and Michael Sattler from Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich presented co-partner and daughter of one of our founders Stephanie Moßbacher and commercial director Josef Stellner with a certificate in recognition of the achievement.
Reaching the jury stage makes Byodo a candidate for Germany’s most revered business award. The SMEs are assessed based on five competition criteria:

  • Overall development of the company
  • Creation/guaranteeing of workplaces and apprenticeship training positions
  • Modernisation and innovation
  • Active involvement in the region
  • Service and customer proximity, marketing

Only those companies which satisfy all the criteria and achieve great things in each of them have a chance of taking home the award. Byodo caught the judges’ eye for the third time in a row and made it through to the second stage of the competition. In the first step, a company has to be nominated for the Großer Preis des Mittelstandes by a third party.
“Our goal is to grow organically and not just at any cost – that’s what makes us different from purely profit-oriented large concerns. This give us freedom to get involved with social and environmental projects such as promoting the growing of organic mustard in the region and delivering freshly prepared lunches made with 100% organic ingredients to the local nurseries and preschools,” explained commercial director Josef Stellner. We shall find out on 14th September at the award ceremony with its gala and ball in Würzburg how Byodo fares against the other 750+ nominated companies.
