Eat what is already there
The Community Kitchen in Munich is a non-profit organization that has set itself the task of combating food waste and promoting greater appreciation of food. By donating food, the Community Kitchen not only wants to counteract food waste, but also create a colorful place where people can exchange ideas and enjoy fresh meals. The Community Kitchen was founded in July 2021 and now consists of a team of around 30 employees and 50 volunteers. From the outset, the aim was to actively combat food waste and contribute to climate protection. Byodo supports the organization through regular food donations and thus promotes the appreciation and sustainable use of food.
As well as rescuing food that would otherwise be thrown away and turning it into fresh meals in their restaurant, the Community Kitchen does so much more!
- Educational offers such as workshops or monthly festivals for school classes to sensitize children and young people to topics such as climate protection and food waste,
- Community campaigns such as the “Tetrap-Act-on-Foodwaste” campaign, in which Tetrapacks are collected as a symbol of the amount of food wasted, or “Social Days”, on which teams can actively participate in projects such as gardening, preserving or renovation work,
- Providing a meeting place where people can come together and exchange ideas.
