    Information on production

    Compared to conventionally baked waffles, rice cakes are produced by simply "puffing" them - quite similar to preparing popcorn at home. The rice is filled into round baking trays. When both waffle moulds meet, the rice seeds burst due to exerted pressure. Starch exeed and "compresses" all rice seeds - in this way a round and even waffle is formed. Through this short baking process the nutrients are set free and become more digestible for us. Moreover this procedure causes the typical roasty taste.

    • 12 Byodo Rice Cakes, no added salt
    • 100 g sugar
    • 35 g honey
    • 150 g butter
    • 20 ml milk

    Preparation:

    Boil sugar, honey, butter and milk until pasty. Then fold in 5 chopped rice cakes, wait and leave to cool. Finally garnish rice cakes with mixture.

    Preparation time: approx. 15 minutes, 5-6 portions
